Allison Young, MD
Dr. Allison Young completed her undergraduate education at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, from which she graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science in neurobiology and theology. During her time there, she completed a thesis on factors affecting the migration and differentiation of cortical neurons in mice. She continued studying cortical development throughout her medical education at New York University School of Medicine, where she obtained her doctor of medicine with honors in neuroscience and physiology.
Dr. Young also pursued her residency in psychiatry at the New York University School of Medicine, where she was selected to participate in the residency research program. Through the research time awarded by that program, Dr. Young completed a translational research project using computer tasks to study the cognitive deficits underlying attentional impairment in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Now in her final year of residency, Dr. Young splits her time between clinical work and research. In her clinical work, she sees patients in the general psychiatry clinic, in a women's mental health clinic, and in the NYU Military Family Clinic. In her research time, Dr. Young is studying novel approaches to treat anxiety disorders and stressor-related disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), with an emphasis on non-pharmacologic interventions.
