lidocaine injection pain - how to reduce it

How to use lidocaine

"Lidocaine" produced in the form of a solution for injection, in the form of drops, there are also aerosols, sprays and gels with its content, which are used for the treatment of areas with pain syndrome. Assign "Lidocaine" for local anesthesia for bruises, sprains or surgical interventions, for example, in dentistry or gynecology.

How does "lidocaine"

Anesthesia by the drug occurs due to the fact that the drug, once in the tissues, blocks nearby nerve endings, and the pain impulses from them stop flowing to the human brain. The effect of "Lidocaine" in the form of injections lasts from 60 to 90 minutes, and the agent in the form of sprays, aerosols and gels works for 5-6 minutes. The drug also has a vasodilating effect, but does not irritate the tissues, and, as a rule, there are no side effects.

Use of the drug and its dosage

“Lidocaine” in injections is used to create so-called blockades, as epidural anesthesia during childbirth, in dentistry and in many other cases. The drug is also used to relieve discomfort in various types of studies of internal organs.
In dental practice, the drug is used in the form of a spray, aerosol or gel when removing teeth or installing dentures and crowns, during surgical interventions or suturing in the oral cavity. In ENT operations, for example, washing the maxillary sinuses, removing adenoids and polyps, also use Lidocaine.
The dosage of the drug is selected individually, depending on the area of the place that you want to numb, and the general condition of the patient. For example, about twenty milliliters of “Lidocaine” is used for epidural anesthesia, and for pain relief of the trachea, only three milliliters are used.
“Lidocaine” in the form of a gel is applied once with a thin layer on the diseased area, while the spray is processed in three stages, and with gynecological and obstetric manipulations, up to twenty sprays may be needed. However, it is prohibited to perform more than twenty irrigations per thirty-five kilograms of the patient's body weight.
"Lidocaine" must be used very carefully, as the drug is quite strong and with its careless and uncontrolled use, side effects may appear.Self-medication with the use of this drug is strictly prohibited, since the patient may simply not be aware of the contraindications he has or may exceed the dosage, which is fraught with serious consequences.
