The Craziest Food Trends That Took Over 2018



There’s too much Internet—like this—and too little time. That's why we curate a list of the best of the best (a.k.a. "the Greatist") things we've come across on the Web this week. In other words, it's the stuff we'd email/gchat/tweet/text you immediately if we were besties. While we'll never stop striving to bring our readers amazing content on a daily basis, we know not all the best stuff comes from us.

Throwing a cold one back after setting a personal record on the track sounds like a logical way to celebrate. But drinking that beer mid-run? Not so much. The beer mile and all its glory—four times around a track where runners chug a 12-ounce beer at the beginning of every lap—has attracted a surprising amount of attention in recent years. Sure, Clif Bars and Power Bars might be subconsciously marketed toward men with advertisements about giving you the fuel for endurance activities. But Luna and thinkThin bars are explicit in their target demographic: busy women who don’t have time to think about preparing healthy food. Filling that need seems noble, until you realize that advertising these bars as guilt-free and smaller in portion size might actually work to perpetuate hurtful stereotypes.

You finally found the perfect pair of running shoes. But after a few months of use (and all of the inevitable sweating) they start to smell—OK, reek.
